Prosecutors in the United States have given former President Donald Trump until Monday to declare why his organization should not face criminal charges.
Therefore, the Trump Organization attorneys have until Monday to prevent the charges from being filed, Washington post report it citing anonymous sources.
The charges are related to the organizations financial dealings as well as alleged attempts to inflate asset values in order to mislead investors.
The investigation started as a civil one in New York but later expanded to a criminal one.
"We have informed the Trump Organization that our investigation into the organization is no longer purely civil in nature. We are now actively investigating the Trump Organization in a criminal capacity, along with the Manhattan DA. We have no additional comment at this time," a spokesperson for the New York attorney generals office said last month.
The former president, who lost the 2020 election the Democratic contender, Joe Biden, is reportedly planning to run again in the 2024 race.
He is at the center of several legal battles, which he keeps alleging that our political schemes aimed at canceling him and his base.
The former president was accused of inciting an insurrection by calling on his supporters to storm the Capitol in an effort to stop the certification of now-President Joe Biden‘s victory in Congress.
